Our Approach

We are organized around the following 6 law practice areas, and a Consultancy Unit,each headed by a partner:

(i)  Corporate, Commercial and Intellectual Property;

(ii)  Foreign Investment and Trade;

(iii)  Project Finance and Public-Private Partnerships;

(iv)  Banking, Securities and Insurance;

(v)  Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution;

(vi)  Taxation; and

(vii)  Consultancy Unit.

Consistent with our Firm’s duly registered mandate and its consequent comparative advantage, we are staffed by national (Iraqi) and international lawyers, advisors, technical consultants, accountants, auditors, and support staff; and we provide our services in the Arabic, English, French, and Kurdish languages.

Our staff shares the same basic philosophy, values, working methodology, and approach to client service. “Client Focus” and “Timely Excellence” are central to the priorities of each of our staff.

We consistently emphasize teamwork and encourage innovative thinking, and we train our staff to think strategically, as well as legally and technically. We stress that only the best is acceptable for our clients, and that “the best” always means full adherence to the cornerstones of all our client relationships; namely: “integrity,” “trust,” “excellence,” and “accountability.”

Each client is assigned to a “client partner” who is the single point of contact in overall charge of making sure that the services we provide are delivered to the highest standards and agreed deadlines. The BHC client partner works closely with an assigned lead lawyer or lead consultant qualified in the principal disciplines required to bring the particular client matter to a successful closure.

The foregoing approach also applies to our Consultancy Unit.

An integral part of our approach is to regularly ensure that all BHC personnel have a basic understanding of applicable national and international standards of professional services delivery, ethics, and anti-corruption; and we provide the necessary staff training and maintain the proper internal compliance mechanisms in that regard.
